Susanne James makes stoneware pottery inspired by the natural beauty of the Haliburton Highlands. Her pieces are glazed in the colours of Haliburton’s lakes and forests: deep blues and earth tones.
Some pieces feature wildlife motifs such as the iconic dragonfly; others are imprinted with tree boughs or pine cones harvested from the forest – a true and unique souvenir of the Highlands.
New this year: in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday, Susanne has created a line of pottery canoes in different sizes and colours.
Susanne’s pottery is functional, including mugs, bowls, platters and candle holders. Glazes are lead-free and food-safe. Each piece is handcrafted and kiln-fired in her studio in Haliburton.
